OK, so that was pretty damn epic. Heavy, psychedelic, weird, industrial and rockin' like a bag of bastards. And all the time you're thinking "that's John Cale from The Velvet Underground!"

Highlights, for me, were a strange, dark deconstruction of Elvis' Heartbreak Hotel and a new track ("Company Commander") that blew the roof off the place.

Also it was John Fucking Cale from The Velvet Underground! That was a bit of a highlight too.

John Cale, lean and grey-haired, sits at a keyboard, centre stage, with a guitarist, drummer, and bass player (just out of shot) behind him. A purple and gold honeycomb of hexagons is projected behind the band. There's a fittingly sixties vibe to the scene.

John Cale je absolventem londýnské hudební akademie Goldsmith College. Na škole uvedl koncertní skladbu, při níž "křičel na květináč, dokud kytka neuvadla". „Chtěl jsem zkřížit rock s avantgardou a pak jsem potkal Lou Reeda, takže to pro mě znamenalo rozřešení,“ tak popsal vznik Velvet Underground.
