Really? They're doing something in the park again? And next to the crows' tree again! WTF!

What I find weird is that there isn't any consultation with the neighborhood, or even simple information beforehand. (I guess I got spoiled at the uni where I'm informed of every little thing that's happening even when they don't concern me)

I never learn… 🤪

needed beans for making chili. thought I had several boxes of Solleone beans. turns out I only had one box. asked teenlet to pick up a couple cans at the local supermarket. forgot that Japanese beans are tasteless cardboard approximations of beans 😣

thankfully I’m making the chili for tomorrow’s dinner so hoping the meat and tomatoes and spices work some magic to somewhat cure these abominations 🤞 😆

"So, David, how is leaving Meta working for you?"
"Well, nowadays, I rarely use Facebook more than a few minutes a day..."
"Great! But? I think there's a 'but' coming..."
"But for some reason, and while I've never really used it much before, I find myself using Instagram more than ever before..."

🤷‍♂️

Unfortunately, Instagram is unavoidable in Japan, especially when you don't use Facebook.

I was walking on campus and ran into my head of department. We haven't seen each other in a while, so we should engage in small talk, but it's not like we have anything to talk about.

He says: "It's cold, isn't it?"
I say: "Yes, it is."

Both without stopping, just walking past each other.

That's it. This counts as a valid and cordial conversation.

My favorite kind of small talk. I love Japan for this too.

Apparently there's some gossip in my department about the fact that Europeans are the only ones to take their full yearly holidays.

My answer to that? Hell yeah!

Happy and proud to not having been brainwashed into the fact that thinking taking a break from work was a bad thing (like my fellow Japanese) or so not used to having some that they don't know what to do with it (like Americans do)
