#bitwigstudio 6 #beta coming on August 27! #linuxaudio
Dear #linuxaudio friends. Today I have a new #interview for you.
It's the first one I didn't do back and forth via email, but rather in a video call followed by manual transcription. And it's with none other than David Schornsheim from #plugin #developer @uheplugins!

Dear #linuxaudio users. What questions would you like to see answered in future Linux Audio Developer or Linux Musician interviews?
PD: These are some of the interviews that are almost complete and about to be published: David Schornsheim (u-he), Klaus Scheuermann (4ohm music), and Matt Thurtell (n-Track).
What’s the best multiband limiter for native Linux? I like Waves L316, looking for something similar…
Malheureusement, les sites web https://doc4.librazik.org et https://doc3.librazik.org sont actuellement indisponibles. Nous espérons que cette attaque DDOS ou LLM agressive et bien répartie se calmera rapidement.
I have another question for you #linuxaudio #linuxmusician (s): Do you usually put effects directly on the respective channels, or do you prefer send/return channels instead?
Dear #linuxmusician (s). Do you regularly read manuals for #plugin (s) or do you prefer to figure things out on your own? #linuxaudio
#soundblocks by #nazaray for #linuxaudio is out today!
For now this is a standalone app. Hopefully, #plugin (s) will follow.
Also, it's distributed via #steam, which at least I find weird. But then again, I am not a gamer, so this may not be an issue for most #linuxmusician (s).

Are there any full-time #linuxaudio #linuxmusician (s) on Mastodon who would like to share their experience in an interview for https://linuxaudio.dev/?

#LinuxAudio for musicians be like:
Aaah I found this cool sound in my #Waldorf #Rocket #Synthesizer, it uses the #Arpeggiator.
Now I want to try a beat with it. Oh there is #Hydrogen #DrumSampler on my #Linux system!
Oh *beep*, most drum kits don't work and I don't know why but I don't wont to figure that out now.
Managed to patch Hydrogen MIDI to my outboard synthesizer. Now how to send MIDI Clock? Oh Hydrogen cannot send MIDI clock.
I need jack_midi_clock to get MIDI Clock from the general Jack Transport. Installing.
Okay now I'm in GMIDImonitor to find out the jack_midi_clock does not send any MIDI Clock, at least not on my system of Pipewire+Jack. Or perhaps it does but I can't see, since the synth's arpeggiator stops when transport plays and continues playing when transport stops.
This is getting weird.
Now I have lost my idea for the drum pattern, so I'm giving up on making music for today. Time is very limited anyways.
I'm very pleased to announce that the next #interview with a #linuxaudio #musician, with @alisynthesis, has just been published to the website.

@unsafelyhotboots Oh nice, you'll have quite a few options then. I don't have any direct experience recently with interfaces with a small channel count, so maybe one of the #LinuxAudio people will weigh in, but I know that many of the focusrite interfaces have a good reputation for playing nice with Linux.

Got the final chip emulator ported to SatouSynth from YunoSynth: the YM2413 (aka VRC7). So now the two libraries have the same chips implemented, one in #CommonLisp, one in #CrystalLang. SatouSynth (the #lisp one) is just slightly ahead in terms of functionality since I didn't back-port VGM seeking into YunoSynth yet, but I will soon, probably in a day or two.
This also means #benben is now much closer to a v0.7.0 release. Just gotta fix up some unimplemented command line arguments, then finish the milestone for v0.7.0 (just one item left), then just do a thorough round of testing.
Testing will be a bit longer this time since the whole program was rewritten from scratch in Common Lisp, so I want to make sure everything is just right. I'll of course post new development AppImages as I go.
So my guess? Benben v0.7.0 will be out this fall.

Shoutout to @icaria36 for setting this up! Thanks buddy :)
Recently #linux #CachyOS jumped to the no.1 spot on distrowatch.
I've followed this distro with slight curiosity for a while, their big selling point being #performance which is always nice.
..and a mighty good argument using it for #linuxaudio
Does someone have experience with this distro, spesifically used for audio / music production ?
I gotta admit, it sure looks tempting!
They ship custom kernel builds. One of them is targeting AMD Zen 4 which I have, so yea... exciting
@michaelmathy here are a couple of resources that might help you find Linux-native alternatives to your Windows audio tools:

This is pretty awesome!
Ternär Music Flechtwerk implemented the open source project Mutable Instruments Plaits as a CLAP/VST3
Added it to #linuxdaw now ofc :)
