Week-End Marriage (AKA Working Wives) a fine 1932 pre-code film combines comedy and romantic melodrama. Loretta Young has to choose between two men. Takes career vs marriage problems for women seriously. A film that enrages some modern viewers.

In Road To Paradise (1930) Loretta Young is delightful playing dual roles as a wealthy socialite and an orphan with a paranormal ability. Cheerfully pre-code with an indifference to the law. It's OK for pretty girls to break the law. Good fun.

The Truth About Youth (1930), a sex comedy/melodrama with cute as a button Loretta Young as the good girl facing fierce competition for her man from gold digger Myrna Loy (in full-on Sexy Bad Girl mode). Very pre-code and great fun.

“Week-End Marriage” (1932) — excellent performance from Loretta Young as a skilled personal secretary married to a pathetic whiner. Alas, at the end she is shamed by a doctor into giving up her lucrative career to play housemaid to the whiner. The photo on the poster symbolizes the message of the movie.

Loretta Young and Franchot Tone in “The Unguarded Hour” (1936) — a mystery story based on a series of extremely improbable coincidences. But it’s a fun ride and the supporting cast is great, with Lewis Stone, Henry Daniell, and especially Roland Young.

“Life Begins” (1932) is one of the many Loretta Young pre-codes airing today on #TCM (10:15am CDT).

It’s a good film, but for me is more notable for a terrific Glenda Farrell performance in one of her earliest movies in Hollywood. This is the performance that really kicked off her picture career.
