Servo motor mounted! Tis operational but I may 3D print some parts to make the mount a little better. I also need to loosen my pedal as the return spring on the motor doesnt, also need to fabricate a part to able to fit the needle position sensor... but I can sew with much better speed control! Massive kudos to @jarkman and @avian for the nudge towards this. #sewing #machines #making

With Doug Ford losing his bid to demolish Toronto's bike lanes this week, I make a shirt using a scrap of bike themed fabric I had.

I cut it on the bias for stretch, and extended the fabric with some scraps of light blue.

The body came together quickly. But after wrestling with how to properly finish the neck and arm holes, I realised I needed to read some actual instructions. The internet is still a pretty good place to learn.

The end result is quite comfy.

This is what the bottom looks like. I tried to make the resin as pigmented as possible to hide the electronics. When lit up and looked at in the dark, the electronics become somewhat visible as a silhouette.

This is a goodbye present for my friend and colleague, who will resign her job next week. She is a huge #Minecraft fan, so I made her an #axolotl out of epoxy resin, put it in a fancy resin cube and lit the whole thing up with addressable LEDs. I would have used simple fairy lights, but I didn't have any 🙈 ... So I used what I found in my cupboard, which was WS2812B's and an Arduino Nano.

Making the axolotl was a bit of an experimental adventure, but it worked well.

I call it cute-alotl, because it turned out way too cute 🙈

It has two USB ports at the back, one for programming the Arduino and the other for power. Unfortunately the Arduino cannot power the required 1.5A for the LEDs.

It also has glow in the dark powder mixed into two back walls, so it will continue to glow when powered off.

Today has been a good at the maker space, one member was rebuilding their bbq in the welding area, another was repairing a fan, I was working on my little d-bit cutters, and a group of young students were working on doing the composite lay up of a part for a solar powered boat.

I love the way people are working on such varied and interesting projects. The community of support and knowledge sharing is also wonderful.

Today has been a good day.
