#ManifestV2

I've just noticed my @Vivaldi browser saying that uBlock Origin and ScriptSafe are going to stop working in the near future, which is disappointing as I thought they were going to keep support for them.

So my question is... what #browser can I use now? OR, what plugins do I need to replace the soon-to-be-dead ones?

I've got Safari for a backup, but that's got pretty terrible #plugin support so I've never really used it as a primary browser.

#Firefox seems to be enshittifying as fast as they can, #Chrome and #Edge are both crap from a privacy point of view. All the other #Chromium browsers are based on Chrome and thus also lose the #ManifestV2 support.

I don't have millions of plugins I need, but blocking scripts seems a fairly essential feature in the web of 2025 and I don't know what other options there are at the moment...

Oh, and if the Safari mention earlier didn't give it away, I'm on an Apple Silicon Mac (and have no intention of moving to Linux ;) )

control the market. It also means its not going anywhere anytime soon.

3. Manifest V2 is dead. Yes, it is supported by Firefox but it'll be dropped eventually. Maintaining V2 and V3 simultaneously will be exhausting for the Firefox team that's already severly undermanned.

#uBlockOrigin dead for many as #Google purges #ManifestV2 extensions
#Chrome #adblocker stopped working? Time to look elsewhere
#uBlock recommends a move to #Firefox and use of the extension uBlock Origin, a switch to a browser that will support Manifest v2, or downloading a different extension – #uBlockOriginLite, for example.

The Register · uBlock Origin dead for many as Google purges Manifest v2 extensionsBy Richard Speed

#Google #Chrome disables #uBlock Origin for some in #ManifestV3 rollout
For those unaware, Manifest V3 is Chrome's latest extension specification and is designed to limit extension access to user network requests, block developers from utilizing remote content, and improve overall performance.
If you're affected by Google's #ManifestV2 deprecation, you can switch to Manifest V3-supported extensions, such as the #uBlockOriginLite, which #uBlockOrigin developer has created.

:tony_smiling:

Vivaldi は今後どうするんだろう??
