Margaret Lockwood
I have been watching a lot of great old British films lately - following the thread of actors whose performances catch my attention. One of those actors is #MargaretLockwood (1916-1990) ... From Hitchcock's The Lady Vanishes (1938) to her #BAFTA nominated role in Cast a Dark Shadow (1955) opposite Dirk Bogarde. Bravo!

I just watched The Lady Vanishes (Alfred Hitchcock, 1938) and rated it 10/10 ~ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lady_Vanishes?wprov=sfla1 #films #cinema #cinemastodon #TheLadyVanishes #AlfredHitchcock #MargaretLockwood #MichaelRedgrave
I just watched Bedelia (Lance Comfort, 1946) and rated it 7/10 ~ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bedelia_%28film%29?wprov=sfla1 #films #cinema #cinemastodon #Bedelia #LanceComfort #MargaretLockwood
The main problem with Carol Reed's NIGHT TRAIN TO MUNICH (1940) starring Margaret Lockwood is that you're going to compare it to THE LADY VANISHES with which it has a lot in common. Not as good as Hitchcock's film but a decent train thriller.

I just watched Bank Holiday (Carol Reed, 1938) and rated it 7/10 ~ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bank_Holiday_%28film%29?wprov=sfla1 #films #cinema #cinemastadon #BankHoliday #CarolReed #MargaretLockwood
The Man in Grey (1943), first of the great Gainsborough British melodramas.
With James Mason as a dissipated, cruel dangerous nobleman and Margaret Lockwood doing the bad girl thing as only she could.
Packs as much twisted romance and illicit sexuality into its running time as it can. An out-and-out melodrama and an unashamed bodice ripper but very stylish and great fun.

My first proper Chrimbo film of the Yuletide season (even though there’s not a hint of Christmas in it)
The Slipper and the Rose https://g.co/kgs/heiujm
With, among other huge stars of the yesteryear, the camp as Christmas, #EdithEvans and #MargaretLockwood as the wicked stepmother. Why do gay men love the villain? Especially the women!
What’s your favourite Christmas film or any I should definitely watch? I’ll be saving a few for Christmas Eve … ie #AlistairSims in A Christmas Carol
