ben dafydd gillard<p>I would like to see the end of advertising as funding for news media. It creates malign incentives and pollutes the psychosphere. A better model is a combination of state funding and something like Patreon or The Guardian: optional subscription, open distribution. In addition any platform that makes money from displaying/redistributing other news media (Google, Facebook) should pay for it.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/NewsHub" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NewsHub</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/MediaFunding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MediaFunding</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/AdvertisingIsAPlague" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AdvertisingIsAPlague</span></a></p>
