"Laura" is a 1945 popular song. The music, composed by #DavidRaksin for the 1944 movie #Laura, which starred #GeneTierney and #DanaAndrews, is heard frequently in the movie. The film's director, #OttoPreminger, had originally wanted to use #DukeEllington's "#SophisticatedLady" as the theme, but Raksin was not convinced that it was suitable. I've always meant to see Preminger's "Bonjour Tristesse" since hearing Tuxedomoon's song of the same name. What an odd movie! Niven and Seberg are great as a spoiled vapid nouveau riche family. And, it includes a paraphrase of Baudelaires' "Be Always Drunken" prose poem in the script, recited by an appropriately drunk character. Nice use of color and black and white for contrast and dramatic effect, (the B&W sections are particularly beautiful).
