I installed a weekly image back in December 2024 and have been updating it, watching the progress. After a while the NetworkManager chooses a different (random) MAC as the real one shown in the command<br>"ip address show".<br>If I restart the NetworkManager service it overrides the real one previously shown in the cli with the one it has chosen prior to the restart. After a reboot it is, again, a different MAC address😬🙃😦</p>

ozamidas<p>Web sites are these days insanely bloated, sometimes youtube trows 1GB of RAM consumption per tab at me. GNOME Web is infamously known for consuming several gigs of RAM for almost nothing.</p><p>If GNU/Linux on phones is a serious issue, then i think the development of native apps (like GTK apps) for most of the web services that are out there is critical to make the experience bearable. Norbi📷<p>Is there any reliable way to switch WLAN MAC ramdomization off in <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/postmarketos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>postmarketos</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/phosh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>phosh</span></a> edition at all ?<br>The latest and greatest doc about Gnome Networkmanager does not work or is not sufficient to help solving this problem.<br>Does somebody want a broken <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/pinephone" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pinephone</span></a> 😕?<br>The <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/plasmamobile" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>plasmamobile</span></a> version has a simple configuration file entry for that but is not useable on the <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/pinephone" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pinephone</span></a> for a lot of other reasons.<br>Last resort is trying another "distro".<br>I simply can not connect to fwupd.org or cdn.fwupd.org to download the metadata for <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/lvfs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>lvfs</span></a> to update the firmware neither via Gnome firmware nor via firefox even if the MAC address is allowed to connect to the internet.</p>
