Jonathan B ✈️🪄👨🏻‍💻<p>Does anyone have any experience of the Ubiquiti UniFi USW-LITE-8-POE Switch (USW-LITE-8-POE)? I’m thinking of swapping out the two Netgear switches I use for two of these so that I can power a new Zigbee adaptor and my Wifi AP with POE and use VLANs etc to split off my IoT stuff properly.</p><p>Can I connect the two directly together? I have two cupboards with my various network bits in linked with a network cable (that I wouldn’t want to put POE over)</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.me.uk/tags/ubiquiti" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ubiquiti</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.me.uk/tags/unifi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>unifi</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.me.uk/tags/networking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>networking</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.me.uk/tags/poe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>poe</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.me.uk/tags/vlan" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>vlan</span></a></p>

Daniele Verducci 🧉I also added a second <a class="hashtag" href="https://social.ichibi.eu/tag/poe" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#PoE</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://social.ichibi.eu/tag/injector" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#injector</a> for the new <a class="hashtag" href="https://social.ichibi.eu/tag/ipcamera" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#IPcamera</a>, assigned a static IP and all the usual configuration
Daniele Verducci 🧉<span class="h-card"><a class="u-url mention" href="https://mastodon.nl/@justdude" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>justdude</span></a></span> definitely too big for my needs, but I got a very special price on it, so it was a no brainer... I ended placing there even things I didn't planned to, like the fiber modem and my pc, so I saved some space and messy cables around the house...<br>The camera is an <a class="hashtag" href="https://social.ichibi.eu/tag/hikvision" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#hikvision</a> hwi-b120, is an old model but I don't need nothing more than an <a class="hashtag" href="https://social.ichibi.eu/tag/rtsp" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#RTSP</a> stream, so is a tough piece of hardware at a fair price... but definitely nothing to write home about.<br>After installing all I discovered it didn't support <a class="hashtag" href="https://social.ichibi.eu/tag/poe" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#PoE</a>, so I had to use a PoE splitter at the camera end... 🤦‍♂️
Daniele Verducci 🧉Working in the <a class="hashtag" href="https://social.ichibi.eu/tag/lab" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#lab</a> to connect and configure a new <a class="hashtag" href="https://social.ichibi.eu/tag/ipcamera" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#ipcamera</a> powered by <a class="hashtag" href="https://social.ichibi.eu/tag/poe" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#poe</a><br><br><a class="hashtag" href="https://social.ichibi.eu/tag/selfhosting" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#selfhosting</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://social.ichibi.eu/tag/selfhoster" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#selfhoster</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://social.ichibi.eu/tag/homeassistant" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#homeassistant</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://social.ichibi.eu/tag/surveillance" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#surveillance</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://social.ichibi.eu/tag/diy" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#diy</a>

#3GoodThings

1. I finally figured out how to combine my 2 mastodon accounts. It wasn't that hard and I can't believe it took me so long to do it! Forgive me for the double posts and thank you for putting up with them.

2. I wrote 2 pages of a #Poe essay that's due in a few months. If you haven't read Angela Carter's essay, "The Cabinet of Edgar Allan Poe," I highly recommend it.

3. I have a new #website that is just beautiful. professorcindy.com/
