Today's song is Cancer by Gjon's Tears
Gjon's Tears is a Swiss artist with Kosovar Albanian background. I first discovered him when he represented Switzerland in Eurovision 2021 where he ended 3rd with his song Tout l'Universe. This song is from the album he released shortly after that and contains a wonderful feature by Lebanese trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf.

"At Seventeen" is a song by American singer-songwriter #JanisIan from her seventh studio album #BetweenTheLines. #Columbia released it in July 1975 as the album's second single. Ian wrote the lyrics on the basis of a #NewYorkTimes article and used a #samba instrumental, and Brooks Arthur produced the final version. A #pop and #softRock ballad, the song is about a social outcast in #highSchool. Critics have regarded "At Seventeen" as a type of #anthem.

Finally!!!
Somebody FINALLY reissued this #psychedelic #pop classic! Original presses of this album go for ABSURD prices, and as much as I love and adore this record, I was never going to pay those kind of prices.
Great sounding reissue, too. And it even contains a bonus track that was originally just a 7” only single.
Jawbone went one and done, but their ONE is fantastic.

#Synthwave 80s r&b with notes of #prince, #brandy, and #JanetJackson. Sex music, not sure what a live show would be like, but theres a solid groove in the album with some breakup-induced songs written during lockdown. Nicely executed, not a top 10 for me or any of the lists I've seen, but on a couple people's top 20 - curious where she goes if another album comes out.
She'll be down in Brooklyn and #Philly later in April.
