I agree. We most definitely need to stop the #ConsumerCulture
I used to live in the UK and a pedestrian lifestyle was much easier. Here in the US, with everything so far apart (I have to go 45 miles one way to see my doctor) that's much harder.
As ever it's the #GeenMonster aka #ProfitMotive that is causing nearly all of the damage we see. And I don't know how we are going to beat that.
