Yes, I think you are right there. I liked his observation that: “The Dutton opposition has failed to do the hard work. It might be that it is incapable. It might be that it has grown accustomed to having policy parcelled up and handed to it by vested interests. It has elevated nasty politics to an art form. It has coasted on the uncritical backing of the powerful right-wing media.’ That is spot on.

Whatever happens on Saturday night, I don’t think the #LNP has the talent within the membership of its parliamentary causus to reinvigorate the party and the way it works. The indolence of those members is systemic and uncorrectable. To make any difference the #LNP must bleed to death before it can rise again phoenix-like with something that resembles anything like #liberal #policies instead of the #RWNJs and wingnuts it currently comprises.

@Tooden Not gonna dispute that, but simply augment it. "Reversibility" is only a factor if one chooses to stop. The vast majority of our tiny minority know that something is profoundly wrong, from an early age, i'm not talking teens, but say 5 - 7. Back in my childhood nothing was publicly known about this, there was no language for it, no way to have conversations, no references, no support etc. I knew "something" was very wrong, but unfortunately it took me many decades to discover what, why, & how to ameliorate it [albeit too late wrt all the major external physiological changes caused by that despised wrong hormone]. That's all ancient history & now largely irrelevant, coz today much is known of & about #GenderDysphoria, so kids & their parents are easily able to identify & grasp not only what is going on, but what they can do about it. For the parents, & especially the kids, i can think of little that is more existentially devastating than to know they have safe effective options to stave off the evil wrong puberty until they are able to acquire their vital life-affirming surgeries later, with bodies not ruined by that otherwise flood of hated wrong hormones... but be prevented from doing so, by ignorant hating RWNJs & ChristoFascists. It's beyond revolting, & cruel beyond measure.

@prismnpen When i #transitioned twenty years ago, the world generally seemed less aware of trans peeps & issues, so when hostility arose, i do feel it was based on fear, ergo, #transphobia. However, in the intervening two decades, & especially the last decade, general awareness has markedly risen, & initial advances in many countries sadly have been or are being now wound back, as #RWNJs & #ChristoFascists tragically gain political ascendency. I now no longer believe it is a fear-based response, but is predominantly based on hatred. Within the past two weeks i saw in the fediverse, for my first time, the term #transmisia used. I did not know what it meant, but when i researched it, & discovered its etymology is to reflect the more contemporary manifestation of hate not mere fear, it roundly resonated with me. As such, in all contexts now where i previously spoke of transphobia, i now instead use transmisia, as it seems a better fit for today's dire reality for trans peeps. This is so tragic & unfair. 😭 🥺
