j_bertolotti<p>Help request to the <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a> hivemind: I got a <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/Raspberry_Pi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Raspberry_Pi</span></a> 500 and created two users, a root and a non-root user for my son. For some reason the <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/RaspberryPiOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RaspberryPiOS</span></a> defaults to log you in without asking for a password, which in my case is undesirable (as I want my son to be able to log in his account without having to log out from mine). If I go in the setting I can disable this, but the side effect now is that lightdm doesn't manage to start when I boot, and has to be started manually by a root user (i.e. me) every time (n.b. without lightdm you can only access the shell and not the graphical interface).<br>How do I get out of this?</p><p>Thanks</p>

Aptivi<p><strong>Raspberry Pi OS gets a new&nbsp;update</strong></p><p><a href="https://www.raspberrypi.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Raspberry Pi</a> is a small single-board computer originated in the United Kingdom that features a very cost-effective computing platform while maintaining high performance with the help of the powerful ARM64 processor. It runs a special version of Debian optimized for such computers, called Raspberry Pi OS, to take full advantage of its features.</p><p>Recently, Raspberry Pi has released a new version of their own operating system that is still based on the Debian 12 Bookworm released <a href="https://www.debian.org/releases/bookworm/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">on June 10th, 2023</a>. It is hinted that this new version of Raspberry Pi OS is going to be most likely the last version that uses said version of Debian before moving on to Debian 13 Trixie when the official release commences.</p><p>According to <a href="https://www.raspberrypi.com/news/a-new-raspberry-pi-os-release/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">their official newsroom</a>, they said that there have been some changes made to the OS since November of the last year.</p><ul><li>The swaylock lock screen application has been modified to add more feedback to the user instead of just a white screen.</li><li>The automatic login option has been split into two: desktop and console. This is done to improve security of your Raspberry Pi.</li><li>The new printer config application has been introduced to make managing printers simpler and more intuitive.</li><li>The mouse emulation settings can now be accessed when managing touch screens to make it easier to use it.</li><li>The Linux kernel has been upgraded to 6.12 to add new features and to incorporate many improvements.</li></ul><p>Many changes have also been done to improve the performance of your Raspberry Pi to save time when working on your project, such as when working on your new application written in Python or C#.</p><p><span></span></p><p><a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/bookworm/" target="_blank">#Bookworm</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/debian/" target="_blank">#Debian</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/debian-12/" target="_blank">#debian12</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/debian-13/" target="_blank">#Debian13</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/debian-bookworm/" target="_blank">#debianBookworm</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/debian-trixie/" target="_blank">#DebianTrixie</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/linux/" target="_blank">#Linux</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/news/" target="_blank">#news</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/raspberry/" target="_blank">#Raspberry</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/raspberry-os/" target="_blank">#RaspberryOS</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/raspberry-pi/" target="_blank">#RaspberryPi</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/raspberry-pi-os/" target="_blank">#RaspberryPiOS</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/tech/" target="_blank">#Tech</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/technology/" target="_blank">#Technology</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/trixie/" target="_blank">#Trixie</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://officialaptivi.wordpress.com/tag/update/" target="_blank">#update</a></p>
