OTD the minor aristocrat whose #diaries I'm transcribing bought a #chandelier for his country house from #royal #glassmaker Perry (bityl.co/Fk1z).

These status symbols weren't cheap. In 1818 the #Regent paid £4290 for 9 chandeliers for the #RoyalPavilion (bityl.co/Fk26). My chap would've gone less OTT & more like the 2x 1782 #Chatsworth chandeliers—£210. After inflation, say £150, plus ~£75-100pa for decent candles.
