Michael Meckler<a href="https://a.gup.pe/u/linguistics" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@linguistics</a> I mentioned Ronnie Corbett yesterday, and it occurred to me that some here on Mastodon who are interested in linguistics may not be aware of the famous 'Four Candles' comedy sketch from 'The Two Ronnies'. A link to a video of the sketch is attached. Michael Meckler<a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/@captainpovey" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@captainpovey</a> Enjoyed listening on BBC Radio 4 Extra on BBC Sounds recently to a rediscovered recording of Desert Island Discs from 1971 with Ronnie Corbett. This was still relatively early in his career (he was only 40 and the programme was recorded during the first season of 'The Two Ronnies'), so he reflected a great deal on his early years growing up in Edinburgh.
