Burnout Cat<p>Solid Sunday run today</p><p>5.7km because <a href="https://toot.cat/tags/Garmin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Garmin</span></a> 10k plan suggested a structured workout and it turned out to be good</p><p>10’ warm up<br>1.5 miles / 2.4 km easy run<br>0.5 mile / 800m all out<br>10’ cool down</p><p>It’s interesting because my cool down pace after the all out is pretty much the same pace of the easy run and it felt like something relaxing. I’m sure there is some interval training science there.</p><p>Fun experiment. Started with a sub-29 5k, which was nice. Only slowed to a walk once, but increased the pace very slowly afterward.</p>
Tom<p>I managed to find 1000m of elevation gain on my local trails, without any hill reps or retracing my steps. Super slow pace - goal was to run the downhills hard to condition my legs for Eryri descents, then keep the rest in zone 2, so I walked a lot of the climbs.</p><p>Training plan here is following Koop's "four disciplines of ultra running", namely hiking, flat running, uphill running, and downhill running.
