XenoPhage :verified:After reading a ton of “Don't try this at home”, “Hire a professional”, “This is extremely dangerous” warnings all over the site I was buying parts from, I was able to replace the extension springs on two garage doors. In under an hour. And I had never done this before.. And no flying springs!Seriously, how the hell could you hurt yourself doing this? The hardest part of the whole thing was lifting the first garage door (160 lbs) that I had disconnected the springs on to weigh .. The one I hadn't disconnected the springs on went even faster because I didn't have to go crazy trying to lift it.Pop off old spring, pop on new spring. Ensure cables are in the pulley slots. And... done.
