I am using my @jolla #SailfishOS #Jolla #C2 phone for a few days now as my main daily driver (nearly since the day I have received it) and I need to my #iPhone only for a few things anymore (I am leaving it at home already though).

A more detailed report will come in a few days and I still might come across deal breakers, but so far: While there are a number of unexpected shortcomings, overall the experience so far was a lot better than I had expected.

This is the first #Linux based device I am testing that really seems to have the potential for a lot of people to get rid of #Google and #Apple - if they actually want.

After the last update, the Signal "desktop app" is requiring us to launch the mobile app - however, many of us do not have the Android or any other "mobile" version of the Signal app any more.

We are a large (by our standards) group of #Linux phone users, and **your "desktop" app is our "mobile" app** : )

Our previous phones on which #SignalApp was initially activated was an Android or Apple device and we have since then completely migrated to #Linuxphones. Some of us may have registered Signal on #signalcli, Flare, #Molly, Signal Android in #WayDroid, etc.

The #mobileLinux community is growing - we have members spanning a good number of projects and devices, e.g.
- @purism #Librem5 and #LibertyPhone running #Debian-based #PureOS #GnuLinux, #Alpine-based #PostmarketOS or #Mobian,
- @PINE64 #Pinephone and PP Pro running #ManjaroARM, #SailfishOS, etc.

Ja. Ich verwende seit ca. 10 Jahren nichts anderes und man muss schon hin und wieder mal etwas mehr tun, aber "tägl. Baustellen" eher nicht.

Man muss halt bedenken dass Apple wahrscheinlich mehr Sekretärinnen beschäftigt als #Jolla, das Unternehmen hinter #SailfishOS, insgesamt an Mitarbeitern hat.

Umreiß' doch mal was Du so tagtäglich an Apps und Funktionen auf Deinem Smartphone nutzt. Dann kann ich versuchen potenzielle Hürden mit Sailfish OS abzuschätzen.

Selbstverständlich! Es geht nicht alles in einem Moment.

Schau' Dir mal #SailfishOS an. Das ist kein entgoogletes Android, womit man Google letztlich doch nicht ganz los wird, sondern basiert auf Meego, einem ebenfalls Linux-basierten Betriebssystem, das Nokia entwickelt hatte, bevor sie von Microsoft übernommen wurden. Darauf laufen auch Android-Apps, aber da es selbst kein Android ist gibt es ein paar Einschränkungen. Aber vielleicht ist es ja dennoch einen Blick wert.
