Linux Administration #9: Systemüberwachung Und Performance-Monitoring - Admin:Docs

To all the #NixOS users out there using nix on their #server: How do you manage deployment?
In my case, I ssh into the server, edit the configuration, and run `nixos-rebuild switch` on that server.
I don't really like ssh-ing into the server first, then editing configs through a terminal connection, and rebuilding the whole system there (my laptop would probably build it faster).
In a perfect scenario, could imagine myself editing the configuration on my laptop, running some magic command that would build the system derivation and copy it over to the server.
What tools/scripts do you use, what is your workflow in general? Tell me!

Gaming On A 2017 HP Enterprise Micro Server
Finally got around to putting a LANCache on the network. Great strides have been made in user accessibility for these things, took maybe 10 minutes to get it up and running after reading a few guides.
Power11 processors: IBM promises 99.999 percent uptime
Four years after the Power10, IBM launches the Power11 processors for servers. The firm stays loyal to contract producer Samsung and promises high reliability.

"#Mozilla has missed so many boats that it's not even funny to #catalog them, but sadly, I must."
"Most of the #web runs on #advertising, as it has for 20-plus years. You might think Mozilla would, say, buy and integrate an #adblocker. Acquiring #adblocking #companies has been a thing for a #decade. Other #browsers integrate ad-blocking, and you don't even need something controversial like #Brave – for instance, #VivaldiBrowser has offered it for years. Many of the #team behind #Vivaldi previously made #Opera, and it #blocked #ads too. (Soon afterwards, the company sold it to a #Chinese group.)
But no. Instead, Mozilla goes and buys an #ad firm and then removes its promise not to #sell your #data. Once again, it's as if the #leadership were actively trying to work out the worst direction to turn."
"The #AI trend is a cult now for many.
Whither Mozilla? Oh, it built a #bot into its docs #server in 2023, then promptly had to turn it off again. Its #chief product #officer was quite gung-ho about AI in early 2024. He left the company soon afterwards.
In 2024, Mozilla made more layoffs and announced it would invest in open source #AI. This year, Mozilla finally integrated a #vertical #tab bar into #Firefox and, you guessed it, built an AI #chatbot into it. You can, at least, turn it off."
Handy little SSL config generator this; https://ssl-config.mozilla.org/
Signups are currently deactivated!
We're now slightly below 1000 free VPS instances!
Within the last few weeks, coming with new locations around the world, we got more and more signups, where people can also test their setups across different geo locations @BoxyBSD.
Unfortunately, this also increases the required support which is really time consuming and only handled by @gyptazy. While everything is fully automated, support is another thing and I need a short break. Hope to open the signups quickly again.
PS: This project is completely free, not even any donation possibilities etc - just imagine a box would only cost 1$.
It seems I need to restart my server (Ubuntu) after I renew my Certbot cerificate in order for the update to be recognised. Probably coud just restart Nginx I expect, but anyway... any clever peeps on here that know if I can actually get the renewed certificate (and its validity dates) served up without any downtime? #certbot #ssl #server #linux
Finally being a homeowner means I can have my own network cabinet! It's not yet got much in it as I need to run ethernet all around the house and patch it to the top panel. My server will live in here on a shelf near the bottom as well as the firewall and the UPS. Will post again once it's fully kitted out

#Nvidia's Arm chips rapidly gain share in #server market as #AI booms — Nvidia's Arm-powered #GB200 servers surge as market reaches a record $95 billion in the first quarter
It appears that the vast majority of these Arm-powered machines are Nvidia's #GB200 #NVL72 #rackscale solution, based on the Grace Blackwell platform, which features an Nvidia Grace CPU and eight B200 AI GPUs per server.

Report: Apple wanted to enter the cloud business
To expand its service business, Apple allegedly wanted to rent server space to developers - from Apple Silicon Computers. But the project failed.
Does anyone have ideas or implementations on how to operate a #BIOS without sighted help? I keep having the problem of changing BIOS settings or boot sequences and always need someone to help me with the settings. I've also tried the video recognition of #ChatGPT or #Gemini, but both were way too imprecise and often just made up what it read to me or recommended for control. #accessibility #linux #server
I was asked if I could send a screenshot of my Rust learning project to possibly help to be installed. A server that deals with binary encryption, among other things, is not so simply clear to see
