Another bird from yesterday's hike. Would any trip to Silver Falls be complete without seeing a Steller's Jay?
Yesterday, I hiked the Trail of Ten Falls at Silver Falls State Park in the mid-Willamette Valley, Oregon. I encountered this raven at the junction of the Canyon Trail and the spur to Middle North Falls. It was the closest I've ever been to a raven in the wild; this one was not afraid of humans and looked to be expecting a snack from us. Sorry, buddy.

Recreating means playing in or around the falls other than swimming. When the park ranger asks you if you’ve been “swimming” you can’t claim you were wet because you were just “observing pond life”or some other lame excuse.
Unfortunately people have died there doing crazy stuff.
They have tree climbing at Silver Falls too. You get a great view from the 200 ft high canopy. If only you had more time …..
Silver Falls State park in Oregon has beautiful and unique waterfalls with the best time to visit being Autumn. That said, one of my favorite images from the park is this one of the Historic District. Mist was hanging in the trees and as the sun came up these light beams highlighted a small tree in peak fall color.
