In 1989, we published the GNU #GPL. It is at the core of #SoftwareFreedom and it protects users' rights to run, copy, modify, and share. Read more about #FreeSoftware licensing https://www.fsf.org/licensing

Did you know that the #FSF has a Friends membership tier? It doesn't have all the benefits of the standard or student associate membership tiers, but it does include the option to receive a USB membership card with #Trisquel #GNU/Linux, an FSF membership badge, access to the member forum, and some other perks, all while supporting #SoftwareFreedom. Read more about the Friends tier: https://u.fsf.org/1m6

"One key concern to have emerged in recent months is the ICC’s [International Criminal Court] reliance on Microsoft which has deepened in recent years after chief prosecutor Karim Khan formed a partnership with the company to overhaul the court’s systems."

Anyone else feeling like a Cassandra right now? How long have the software freedom movements been warning public institutions about proprietary tech dependencies?

@astian Appreciate you going cross-platform. Most people need a recommendation like, "Just install ____" and it needs to be available for their platform, on their app store, preconfigured with #privacy-respecting defaults out of the box. Telling them this browser on mobile, that one on desktop, but install #uBlockOrigin, change search engine, etc. is too much - they'll just remain on Chrome or Edge!
BTW, I hope you are able to release #Midori on @fdroidorg and @flathub this year : )
That's why I've long thought the most sustainable way for the #fediverse to grow is at the edges.
Every person who wants to lead their people out of the DataFarms knows what matters to their community, and what pain points or new possibilities might motivate them to shift to community-controlled tech. We know which services are needed, and what apps will appeal. We know how to support transition.
