My time GMing D&D 5e is coming to an end as the party starts making plans to attack Strahd in Castle Ravenloft. This is the only WoTC 5e adventure I've read or run and it has some issues, including not really knowing what it wants to be. The dungeon crawly stuff feels out of place.

Anyway, WoTC will be in my rearview mirror after this and I can move on to exploring the rest of my bookshelf.

Campaign over!

For over a year we’ve tried to avoid, outsmart, and then defeat #Strahd.

Much to all our surprise, tonight we killed Strahd. As the fighter, I expected to take the brunt of damage. Instead, the rogue dropped twice, and the warlock and bard each once. The cleric did ok and I oddly stayed mostly unblemished.

Then I scored the kill with my absolutely tumescent blood spear. And, being cautious, the kill was followed with fine dicing, fire, holy water, and so on.

Finally, after months of postponing, our dinner with Strahd.

Instead of the anticipated TPK, we somehow* convinced Strahd to maybe take a hundred year nap and oh hey leave us in charge.

So. Three generations without a murdery despot. And time to raise a vampire-killing army. No guarantees, but my character will be dead by then.

* Odd ideas, lucky rolls, a DM who is fine ignoring canon.
