Dr Shubhangi Karmakar<p>I've been very lucky to be in India today, to belatedly perform last rites of my late grandfather, Mr Suryya Ray —</p><p>schoolteacher, public administrator, and Sr Advocate of the <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/SupremrCourt" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>SupremrCourt</span></a> of India, who died of <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/COVID" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>COVID</span></a> a year ago.</p><p>His goal was for every marginalised person, "to live with their head held high, among the free peoples of the world."</p><p>As a baby law student, discovering his love for <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/India" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>India</span></a>, her <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/Constitution" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Constitution</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/Law" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Law</span></a> and its <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/Secular" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Secular</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/Reform" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Reform</span></a>, has been incredible to me.</p>
