As for AI images for profile pics: I think the big point is the customizability.

At least this seems to be the reason it's being used in #trpg

Something "ok looking" with the right combination of features (gender, hair, hat, clothing, ...) will feel a better match than taking something well executed and dynamic, which doesn't fit the description as well.

It's why folks use customizable heroforge.com miniatures, instead of better sculpted off-the-shelf miniatures.

This article shows us how utterly clueless Hasbro was in regards to the Sigil VTT.

While everybody expected Sigil VTT would make its money through endless stream of micro-transactions, Hasbro apparently thought a VTT was like a regular GI Joe action figure toy -- once you design it, you can have money rolling in with no additional cost or effort.

When they finally learned that's not how VTT works, they lost interest. 😂😂😂
