#Commerce Secretary #HowardLutnick had said in April when the review of whether reliance on foreign #drug production *threatens* US #NationalSecurity [more like, rich politicians lining their pockets] was launched that he anticipated that it would conclude between May-June. Global #pharmaceutical companies are bracing for the outcome of the *investigation*, which will usher in sector-specific #tariffs that #Trump has said could start small & eventually rise to 250%.

Further #SelfDestructive #idiocy:

Exclusive: #US #pharma #tariffs likely weeks away as #Trump plans for Alaska

The announcement by the Trump admin of the results of a probe into #pharmaceutical imports & new sector-specific US tariffs likely remains weeks away, 4 official & industry sources said….

He posts frequent <10 minute videos that highlight the "stories behind the stories" focused on technology and trade issues.

Many Westerners truly have no idea about the intensity and magnitude of change happening in China, and the re-arrangement underway in the global order.

The UK car industry is at a crunch point - can it be saved?

In all, just 417,000 new cars and vans were built in the UK in the first six months of 2025, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders - the lowest since 1953.

Tariffs, Brexit, pandemic havoc... All of this caused short-term disruption - but the impact concealed a deeper problem for the UK automotive industry.

The WSJ's ed brd rebuked ARGs that the Trump admin's lawyers made in ct about his tariff policy in an op-ed on Tues.

Trump has raised #tariffs on mult US trading partners since taking office, a move that's been heavily contested in the cts. The CON gives Congress the power to impose tariffs.

On Fri, Trump warned on TS: if judges rule agst his tariff policy, then a "1929-style" depression would occur.

It chided the ATTYs for adopting Trump's style in their ARGs.

"Here’s the real magic trick: while you’re bleeding at the checkout counter, the wealthiest in this country are laughing all the way to the bank. Because tariffs, like most bad policy dressed up as 'America First,' are designed to look like they punish foreign competitors but actually function as a cash funnel to the top."

#China announced preliminary anti-dumping duties on Canadian #canola imports on Tues, escalating a year-long #trade dispute that began with Ottawa's imposition of #tariffs on Chinese #ElectricVehicle imports last Aug.

The 75.8% provisional rate will be effective from Thursday.

The #Canada disputed the Chinese finding saying in a statement late Tues the country does not dump canola & that it was "deeply disappointed" w/China's decision, but remained open to dialogue.

A #census that ignores undocumented immigrants? Hey, maybe we could #compromise by counting #three-fifths of them!
Prices and unemployment both rising? Big #tariffs are sure to fix that!
Oh, great! I hear #Putin only wants the Sudetenland - sorry, I mean the Donbas and Crimea regions of #Ukraine.

(You know, #history is most useful AND most frustrating when it insists on repeating.)
