Raccoon🏳️🌈<p>For <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/BlackHistoryMonth" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BlackHistoryMonth</span></a>, <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/TechHub" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TechHub</span></a> has changed our Info-Page Banner to include <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/ElijahMcCoy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ElijahMcCoy</span></a>.</p><p>This isn't an amazing image, just something I threw together for <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://techhub.social/@nicdex" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>nicdex</span></a></span> to put up, because I felt that putting up Elijah <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/McCoy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>McCoy</span></a>'s picture reflects who we are, what we stand for, and our thoughts on the world today.</p><p>Elijah McCoy's parents escaped from <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/enslavement" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>enslavement</span></a> in the <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/US" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>US</span></a> in the early-1800s, gaining asylum in <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Canada" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Canada</span></a>, and he was born in <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Ontario" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Ontario</span></a> in 1843. However, it is NOT ok for anyone to attack <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/H1B" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>H1B</span></a> Holders themselves, and especially not to refer to them as "H1Bs".</p><p>H1B holders are just workers trying to get by, following the rules and getting a legal <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/visa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>visa</span></a> through legitimate means. Even if the government is issuing too many, and even though companies will always try to exploit them, these people do not have power here and this is in no way their fault.</p><p>"They" are not "actively harming" anyone.
