rottenartist<p>My slightly more in-depth review of Flanagan's "The Fall of the House of Usher" series (minor spoilers): </p><p>For me, the series nailed the dedication to Poe's most popular works. As a love-letter to Poe's writings, it's great. It's not a direct adaptation by any means, but it is a very fun romp through Poe's better known works. It even achieves some depth in a few parts.</p><p>But it stumbles in the other intended themes/messages especially at the end. 🧵 <a href="https://social.horrorhub.club/tags/TheFalloftheHouseofUsher" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TheFalloftheHouseofUsher</span></a> <a href="https://social.horrorhub.club/tags/EdgarAllanPoe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EdgarAllanPoe</span></a></p>
rottenartist<p>I finished Flannigan's The Fall of the House of Usher. A very quick take: </p><p>As a Poe-inspired horror series, it was entertainingly violent and gory. It mostly did good at going beyond easy references to pull at least some depth from the stories/poems. </p><p>As a series dealing with opioid crisis and the evils of capitalism, it stumbles at the end. It goes preachy while ditching the art of metaphor and symbols.</p><p>Enjoyable overall. <a href="https://social.horrorhub.club/tags/TheFalloftheHouseofUsher" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TheFalloftheHouseofUsher</span></a> <a href="https://social.horrorhub.club/tags/EdgarAllanPoe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EdgarAllanPoe</span></a></p>
