However, having played D&D 5E (since 2014) and ToV, I begin to see how complex the game is compared to older editions. Characters have a lot of mechanics, which is rough on newer players. Trying to remember what all your character does and can possibly do, especially in combat, can be daunting.
My solution is to make cheat sheets for all my players so they can see specifically what options are available as a Move, Standard, and Bonus action.
I'm in the process of fixing all the small things in #DnD 5e that have bothered me for literal years and making my own version. So if #A5e and #ToV aren't tickling your fancy, check this one out instead

I love #DnD. I have been playing since 1985 (I know, I am an old GenXer.) through all editions from BX/BECMI to #DnD5E. But with all the ongoing shenanigans with WotC/Hasbro over the last few years, I decided to start running and supporting #TalesOfTheValiant and #KoboldPress. I really like their take on D&D 5E in #ToV. It is backwards/sideways compatible, which makes all my old books still usable. If you are searching for an alternative (and there are many), I recommend this one.

Did you recieve #TalesOfTheValiant books for Christmas?
First, tell whoever bought them that they're cool and they have great taste. Second, check out our #DnD to #ToV Transition Guide to see what changes you'll need to know to get into the game.
@malin Yeah, they've been on this path for a while. I'm sticking with #ToV instead of #DnD for the foreseeable future. #KoboldPress has more of the stuff I want. Their campaign settings are far more fleshed out than WotC's, and with The Labyrinth setting coming, moving between campaign worlds will be a breeze.
I spent some time looking at how rule conventions can inform our worldbuilding & approached what it looks like to limit non-player character spellcasters to just using rituals when using @koboldpress Tales of the Valiant rules.
Working on prep for my game on Saturday. I've reached what has been one of my favorite parts of prep since I started GMing back in 2008, flipping through a monster book for inspiration.
I'm currently loving the Nimbostratus Spirit from Tale's of the Valiant's Monster Vault. That's one thing Pathfinder has had over both 5e and 4e, so many more monster books to flip through.
I *love* the Commoner in the Tales of the Valiant Monster Vault.
Yes, it's weird to be excited by a commoner in a 5e #DnD game, but the #ToV version has an ability called Angry Mob which fits perfectly in the design space I want for a pseudoswarm that I need for my Propagandist Rogue.
Sadly, they use the ORC and I don't want my creation in ORC.
"So, how did you four agree to meet up in the tavern in the first place?"
