I added an X11 version of my mandelbrot program. This one is in color and is resizable! It runs on A/UX and will probably run on any version of UNIX that runs X11. I've attached screenshots from A/UX and modern Linux. You can find the code on github along with the console version: https://github.com/vaelen/multi-mandlebrot/tree/main/unix #retrocomputing #unix #mac #x11 #mandelbrot

`neofetch` developer discontinued the project and took up farming. i think that is beautiful and i think about it all the time.
You know, I guess I don't really have an issue with systemd, at least not one worth getting worked up about.
Some folks get really philosophical about it, but honestly, that’s not me. I mean, sure, I’m aware of the debates and all the noise, but personally? I just let it do its thing.
Maybe deep down I care… or maybe I just can’t be bothered to pretend I do. Either way, I’m not losing sleep over it.

The importance of V7 in the history of Unix, the first release modern users would recognize as familiar.

The Unix clone Coherent, sold as a commercial product between the late 1980s and the early 1990s, is likely the closest system to V7 we can still easily run today.

FreeBSD: Shorter support for the professional focus
From FreeBSD 15 onwards, there will only be four years of support, but more updates are planned. Several teams in the project need some relief.

I wrote a mandelbrot program for A/UX that uses the pre-ANSI C compiler it provides and the early version of curses without color or drawing character support. It was an interesting project! It should work on any UNIX variant. I've built and run it on A/UX and on modern Linux with a problem. The last photo is it running on Linux. #mandlebrot #unix #aux #mac #retrocomputing @slithymatt
