Go Newark, NJ! ❤️

[Mayor] "Baraka’s report shows programs aren’t about job security but about giving people room to improve. Recipient Jennymarie Idrobo [...] says the funds helped her replace her boiler and pay down some student debt."

The rich already have a #GuaranteedIncome from inherited #wealth. They don't worry about their boiler or student debt.

So why not expand #UBI to all of us?

Black Enterprise · Mayor Ras Baraka’s Guaranteed Income Program Provides New Opportunities And Less Stress For Newark ResidentsBaraka says the data proves it's time to discuss the program's expansion, as Newark participants saw decreased homelessness and stress.

I call BS:

"On an annual basis, this means job displacements peak at between 60,000 and 275,000 jobs a year, which are relatively modest figures compared with the average number of job losses seen over the past decade in the UK (450,000 per year) and even more so relative to the overall labour force (33 million)."

How many jobs were created as result of digitalisation and automation in the last 20 years?

The problem with #UniversalBasicIncome is price inflaction.

As long as price are free to grow, they will grow at the maximum that corporation can obtain to maximize profits, with the excuse of the increased demand.

So #Ubi is doomed to fail if everything else stay the same: the rich will become even richer while the people living on UBI will be just as poor but easier to blackmail from governments.

More positive outcomes as part of the Irish #UniversalBasicIncome project 🥳

"recipients who received #money from the program reported more stability and “significantly reduced” #FinancialStress"

Participating in the pilot program also allowed artists to re-prioritize how they spend their time and what they choose to focus on. 'The opportunity to focus more on their specific creative interests opened new possibilities and career trajectories' "

#AI is swiftly replacing entry level jobs, warehouse and factory workers. Soon, there won't be many #jobs left for #humans to do.

How will you feed yourself? How will you house yourself? How will you live?

Keep calling your representatives, keep voting for #UBI #policy and keep spreading the word because the last word is not spoken yet.

You have the #power to bring about #change 🤓

Business Insider · Trump AI czar on universal basic income: 'It's not going to happen'By Lauren Edmonds

I'm all in favor of automating everything so that humans are free to do whatever makes them happy. In the meantime, #capitalism is working people to the bone - incl nurses who will soon be replaced by #AI

"In Colorado, a patient with a runny nose was alarmed to learn from an AI-generated message that the problem could be a brain fluid leak. (It wasn’t.) A nurse hadn’t proofread carefully and mistakenly sent the message."

In the race of becoming the first country actually implementing #UniversalBasicIncome there's a new front runner 🥳

South Korea has just elected Lee Jae-myung as president. He ran on a platform of #UBI in 2022 and narrowly missed out on the top job.

"Lee implemented various basic income programs for residents during his time as mayor and governor."

EVERY company should already pay it's fair share in #taxes That would bring in enough money for #UBI

"AI could wipe out more specialized white-collar roles that may have required years of expensive training and education — and those workers may not be so easily retrained for equal or higher-paying jobs.

Amodei suggested that lawmakers may even need to consider levying a tax on AI companies."

"Susan Campbell (opinion): Is Connecticut ready for Universal Basic Income?"

"Connecticut needs this. The current presidential administration wants to make deep cuts to Medicaid, cut SNAP as it’s never been cut before, and grant rich people unneeded tax cuts. While the world burns around us, maybe we can provide for residents a modicum of stability. This is the time, and Connecticut is the place."

"Within the first 18 months, job-switching rates spiked in the basic income group compared to the control one. Afterwards, people in the former group described themselves as significantly more satisfied with their work situation, suggesting that the financial cushion allowed them to explore new paths and pursue roles better aligned with their skills and interests."
