From what I’ve read the current threshold is in the $300-$400 range per KWh. That would make a financially viable battery at $2,400 for a 6KWh battery - 30% discount won’t get it there yet unless production costs come down another 50% or so. But I’m sure we’ll get there in a few years.</p><p>In the meantime, we ought to legislate <a href="https://aus.social/tags/EV" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EV</span></a> to be <a href="https://aus.social/tags/VtoL" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>VtoL</span></a> (Vehicle to Load) ready so that a charged up EV sitting in the garage can provide power to the house when solar panels aren’t active. Now that would be both a game changer in terms of Grid load and power generation as well as an added incentive to purchase an EV instead of an ICE vehicle.</p><p>Just some thoughts…</p>
