Yes, Hill could sure write. Take "Hard Times" (1975).

In Depression-sunk New Orleans, Charles Bronson (in best role: laconic drifter w/ a certain set of skills in bareknuckle back-alley prizefights) meets a new woman.

Her:
What does it feel like to knock somebody down?

Him:
It makes me feel a hell of a lot better than it does him.

Her:
That's a reason?

Him:
Hey, there's no reason about it. Just money.

The recent death of prolific B-movie director Albert Pyun reminded me of the strangest thing in his filmography. Road to Hell (2013) is an unofficial sequel to Walter Hill's cult favourite Streets of Fire - with Michael Pare and Deborah Van Valkenburgh, reprising their roles.

Hill's film has gorgeous cinematography and incredible production design work. Pyun's does not have such things, relying on heavy use of green screens.
