Walter Hill’s The Driver (1978), a tough edgy thriller with its own distinctive flavour. Ryan O’Neal is amazingly cool. Bruce Dern in psycho mode. Superb action set-pieces. A nicely devious plot. A great neo-noir and a great action thriller.

A street gang known as The Warriors must fight their way from the Bronx to their home turf on Coney Island when they are falsely accused of assassinating a respected gang leader.
Watched the third filming of #RedHarvest and if it's the least of them it's only because the first two (#Yojimbo and #AFistfulofDollars) are such great movies. #LastManStanding had great #WalterHill dialog and awful Walter Hill voice over and how did I fail to notice what a terrible actor #BruceWillis was for so long. Still, I enjoyed it, lots of good character performances, shootouts. The best Red Harvest is yet to be filmed.

The recent death of prolific B-movie director Albert Pyun reminded me of the strangest thing in his filmography. Road to Hell (2013) is an unofficial sequel to Walter Hill's cult favourite Streets of Fire - with Michael Pare and Deborah Van Valkenburgh, reprising their roles.
Hill's film has gorgeous cinematography and incredible production design work. Pyun's does not have such things, relying on heavy use of green screens.
