Bit later than usual.
So glad to be done with the early shift for the next 4 weeks now.
Next week I have the day shift, so I won't be able to post much at all for a couple of days.

Spent a bit too long working in the garden this afternoon, so I'm even more exhausted than usual. 😅

@ajsadauskas @JessTheUnstill also #BlackBerry's #PlayBook #Tablet was released as a accessory screen for their Phones, which gave it "#WiiU-Effect" in terms of marketing.

  • Plus #RIM relying hard on business clients and their proprietary applianced mail systems and having big carriers upsell to business people made them look outdated & quite literally out of touch once #iPhone went mainstream.

I mean, the hardware was never their problem and #SMS-Typists swear by their #BlackberryCurve's #keyboard but BlackBerry's #toolchain - just like #SymbianOS's - was just hideous to the point that devs like @fuchsiii didn't even want to try making #Apps for those devices.

  • Unlike #Mozilla fucking up #FirefoxOS by refusing to sell devices to #developers, by the time RIM & #Nokia came from their high horses, their market shares had been squeezed into mere "rounding errors" by #iOS and #Android as it was way cheaper and easier to get #Apps developed, tested, sold, bought and use them than on their devices.

#Sony even released some #Symbian #S60 devices but since they didn't have the same signing keys, one couldn't even #sideload apps (not to mention they didn't had the #OviStore on those either!)...

Ok, maybe not so surprising, as I hinted at it yesterday, but still. 😅

As 14 years ago today is exactly the day that the 3DS released in Europe, so I wanted to release one more ONM issue with more coverage.

Received #XenobladeChroniclesX #NintendoSwitch. Before starting a bit (I don’t plan to play a lot these weeks), I dug into my #Miiverse archives to see how my character looks like on #WiiU, and found a low-res pic of him, but have no idea of his name. 🕳️

I published it on Miiverse on 7 December 2015 with this comment:

“My Xenoblade journey starts with a deception: not enough choices during character creation. Here's my best attempt after an hour. Note it's the first time I create a black male.”

A picture of my character in Xenoblade Chronicles X, a game on Wii U. He was a black man, with dark grey and slightly purple hair, yellow eyes, a scar going from the right cheek to the forefront, through the right eye, beard and moustache not completely but almost shaved. His face features thin nose, chin and mouth. On the pic, we only see him in portrait. He’s wearing a shirt from some New Los Angeles tech group, I guess, probably made of resistant materials. The shirt is yellow and white. The whole pic is taken from the menu where you create your character.

Affordable Space Adventures is probably the only piece of media I've seen that actually manages to pull off horror comedy. Most "horror comedy" is just comedy with the plot of a horror story, but the comedy in Affordable Space Adventures actually complements and reïnforces the horror of being lost and alone in a malfunctioning probe on a hostile alien planet because your tour company are a bunch of bloody useless idiots.
