Other proposals for Canadian MP's
- Travel time is just the cost of the job, you are responsible for getting to and from Ottawa.
- You must attend "optional" workplace training on your days off.
- Your house shifts are only available the night before. They may be split shifts, what you do for the 8 hours in the middle is your problem. Costs not covered.
- There is a vending machine downstairs, the only edible thing is Snickers. You cannot leave because lunch is only 15 minutes.
I find a lot of the young people around me were never taught about ergonomics. Healthy chair, desk, monitor usage stuff. How about you?
Not only does hot-desking make workers feel under-valued and disrespected, but it also reduces productivity. Every morning, at a new desk, I have to reset the positions of my various windows. And sometimes the mouse has a different sensitivity and I have to fix that, too.
Like the one I've got today. I've got the mouse tracking speed maxed out, and it still feels sluggish. WTF?
I got to vent. My coworker is just a bigot. I look like a cis straight male, and I dont broadcast my lifestyle beliefs at work. So unless you know know me, you would never know im bi, poly, anti trump, anti racist guy. You just see a white male vet that has an 'manly outdoors vibe', so when you say things like the gays and lesbians are ruining the country. i respond, how are they ruining the country, who is forcing to be gay, and how is it directly impacting. LIke dont be surprised when I say youre wrong. I even have a pride rainbow on my damn phone. Maybe I need to start wearing more pride stuff, like some pins on my lanyard. I thought IT people were better than this.
Somehow, someway, we're gonna get blamed for evangelical's prosletyzing at work. This dystopia is so mundane.

For the first time, we are routinely seeing five generations simultaneously active in society. This creates unprecedented challenges and opportunities for wealth transfer, housing, care systems, and intergenerational business models. It's a pretty significant trend, and one often not covered. We are, globally, in the midst of an unprecedented demographic shift. For the first time in human history, five distinct generations are simultaneously active in society at scale, creating a demographic phenomenon that is fundamentally reshaping wealth transfer, housing, care systems, and business models worldwide.
The simple fact is, while wonderfully inspiring, the trend presents some pretty significant systemic challenges.
Existing models for wealth transfer, housing, and care are inadequate for supporting a larger, older population while meeting the needs of younger people, creating potential for social friction and conflict over resources. It' an extraordinary opportunity, though, in that this demographic shift is fueling a multi-trillion-dollar "Longevity Economy" and a booming "AgeTech" market projected to reach $120 billion by 2030, precipitating the largest intergenerational wealth transfer in history.
