Happy Yorkshire Day to all of you who celebrate it.
Don't forget the Yorkshire war cry -
"Ow much !?"
This #YorkshireDay we would love everyone with an interest in #Yorkshire to discover #writer and Yorkshire woman Alice Thornton (1626-1707), born in 1626. See this post for an introduction: https://thornton.kdl.kcl.ac.uk/posts/blog/2023-08-01-YorkshireDay/

That's evidence of shops that existed at one time, but not (alas) evidence on the WWW of waves, on the sea, on the #YorkshireCoast, on #YorkshireDay.
Beware calling those shops. There are ones that sell fake waves made of foam to tourists for use in selfies, to make the flat #Yorkshire sea seem like Hawai'i.
"Tha poots it behind thyself and it lukes lark a reet gradely blue tube, lad. As goode as tha'd get in #Cornwall, anyroad."
(-:
Happy Yorkshire Day!
Finally there's a day when people from Yorkshire can feel comfortable talking about how they're from Yorkshire
Happy Yorkshire Day to my fellow Tykes. Commiserations to all those of you who don't hail from God's Own County, it's really not your fault you poor things.
Happy #YorkshireDay to all you guys out there. You have a beautiful shire!
#YorkshireDay is now trending across Mastodon
On this glorious rainy #YorkshireDay a couple of choice phrases from my Grandma who allegedly walked through blitzed out Sheffield to return to her sister in Rotherham to see if she was okay (no busses, because The Blitz).
"wer tha born in a barn?" - why have you not shut the door?
"everyone is crackers, 'xcept for thee and me, and i'm not so sure about thee"
"it's a reet swiz"; i came to understand that "swiz" meant swindle or con.
Happy #YorkshireDay from #Leeds - I’m not born and bred but moved here and like it.
It is, I hear, something called #YorkshireDay; and absurd rumours have been circulating on social media, claiming that there are *waves* in t' sea on t' east coast of #Yorkshire .
Waves‽
I have scoured that well known source of truth, t' World Wide Web, and can find no credible source for such a claim. Even this picture from a year ago today shows no waves around t' 'umber bridge.
We need all Yorkshire folk to fact check this claim.
Happy #YorkshireDay to all my online pals, even those of you who aren’t fortunate enough to live here.
I will be celebrating in the traditional manner by burning an offering of a Yorkshire pudding whilst reciting the Lord’s Prayer in the style of Alan Bennett.
Happy #YorkshireDay everyone
Also, happy #YorkshireDay. Perfect weather for it too

#YorkshireDay Today is also Colorado Day! Cheers, Yorkshire!
Apparently today is #YorkshireDay, so I guess it's also #SeanBean Day.
Anyone celebrating #YorkshireDay today? Writer Alice Thornton spent most of her life in North Yorkshire and we have mapped some of the places in an interactive map. Find out more in my new blog post https://thornton.kdl.kcl.ac.uk/posts/blog/2023-08-01-YorkshireDay
