kaiserkiwi :kiwibird:<p>I finally was able to move the last devices from <a href="https://corteximplant.com/tags/ZHA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ZHA</span></a> to <a href="https://corteximplant.com/tags/Zigbee2MQTT" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Zigbee2MQTT</span></a>. </p><p>It all started in April when <a href="https://corteximplant.com/tags/HomeAssistant" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HomeAssistant</span></a> 2025.4 had a rare bug that made some Zigbee devices unresponsive, when you have a lot of them. To this day the bug isn't fixed.</p><p>Right about this time I heard about the <a href="https://corteximplant.com/tags/SMLIGHT" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SMLIGHT</span></a> SLZB-06, a Zigbee stick that works independently of the device and connects via Ethernet. </p><p>So I bought it and placed it in the center of my flat. From there on every time I had a bit time I moved some devices. It's great that you can use ZHA and Z2M together in Home Assistant and it just works.</p><p>Yesterday I moved the last light to the SMILGHT stick and unplugged my old SONOFF stick.</p><p>I was able to update to Home Assistant 2025.8 and everything works perfectly. Better than it ever worked with ZHA. And I have more usable entities per device.</p>

I’m still perplexed that it works. There are so many moving parts involved, I’m sure at some point it will break.. 🤞</p>
Dorian<p>If you are uncertain on how to waste a day, toss all your proprietary <a href="https://mas.to/tags/zigbee" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>zigbee</span></a> hubs. Setup <a href="https://mas.to/tags/HomeAssistant" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HomeAssistant</span></a>, a <a href="https://mas.to/tags/mqtt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>mqtt</span></a> broker and add some <a href="https://mas.to/tags/Zigbee2MQTT" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Zigbee2MQTT</span></a> (and a SLZB-06M) and you are good to pair, update and automate all 28 devices of yours.</p><p>Make sure to buy 12 more LED spots so you don't run out of work for the next days to come.</p>

NAB 🇬🇧🇪🇺🔶:marmite:<p>Have I mentioned before how much I dislike docker and Home Assistant?<br>In the campervan, I've put an old NUC running Proxmox. Rather than use the NodeRed dashboard, I thought I'd have another play with <a href="https://mastodon.me.uk/tags/homeassistant" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>homeassistant</span></a>. Connectivity in the camper is via a <a href="https://mastodon.me.uk/tags/mikrotik" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>mikrotik</span></a> LtAP which routes over WiFi if it's connected to the home network or LTE if not. Mika<p>In the <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/Zigbee2MQTT" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Zigbee2MQTT</a> web interface, when inspecting a <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/Zigbee" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Zigbee</a> device's view, if the device's <code>Device type</code> says <code>Router</code><span>, does that mean that it's (capable of) extending the signal range of the Zigbee network?<br><br>Cos all of my Zigbee devices in my network have said type - is it really true that all of em are actually expanding the range of my one Zigbee coordinator (a </span><a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/SONOFF" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#SONOFF</a> dongle)?</p>
Mika<p>Wow <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/Zigbee" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Zigbee</a>/<a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/Zigbee2MQTT" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Zigbee2MQTT</a> with my <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/SONOFF" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#SONOFF</a> dongle on my <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/RaspberryPi" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#RaspberryPi</a> <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/HomeAssistant" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#HomeAssistant</a> box has been quite a headache lol. It's so hard to pair anything, and when one does pair, they seem to not work consistently. I'm not sure if it's a dongle issue, a device issue, or a signal issue - prolly that last one but.. idk how to fix it really.</p>
