'The site is dedicated to (1) archiving historical Infocom-related artifacts -- InvisiClues, of course, but also magazine articles, marketing material, packaging, artwork, literature, and the games themselves -- and (2) making the archives available in an enjoyable format.'

InvisiClues.orgThe Complete Infocom ArchiveThe complete archive of Infocom game artifacts and history, including game information, Invisiclues, historical articles, and more! All presented in an entertaining, nostalgic way.

Discovered via Calishat Snaps: Invisiclues. From the About page: “This website is a labor of love maintained by an Infocom fan and obssessive archivist who fondly remembers the first time he was eaten by a grue in the early 1980s. The site is dedicated to (1) archiving historical Infocom-related artifacts — InvisiClues, of course, but also magazine articles, marketing material, packaging, […]

@zarfeblong The Visible Zork is a work of pure genius!

What an incredible way to learn ZIL! This is why I need to retire, because I would love to shut myself off in a room for a few days, play the entire game through a time or two, and practice writing ZIL in aother buffer :P

Zork I was released for home computers in 1981 and it soared to the top of sales charts, where it remained for more than three years! It was Infocom's top-selling product ever, selling more than 400,000 copies (a huge number for the era) and was the "killer app" of its day.

Got working on an Pi Pico... And it really was easy!

1. Solder legs to the and put it in a mini breakout board.
2. Connect a micro SD card module and a KY-004 reset switch, to the Pico, with Dupont M-F cables.
3. Copy the repo A: drive files to a micro SD card, and in an H/0 folder copy the Zork interpretator and DAT file.
4. Copy the repo UF2 file to the Pico and insert the micro SD card.
5. Connect to the Pico via USB with .
6. Play !

Some small wins that have pleased me...

1. Finally found a lightweight Linux that really does work on my very old hardware. I am liking Linux! Going to use it on all my boxes.
2. On Bodhi, GCC just worked and I have successfully compiled . My first Linux build from a GitHub repo!
3. In , in RunCPM, on Bodhi, I have successfully got working! That is what I wanted all along 🤣

Along the way I discovered the Humongous CPM archive. Bookmarked!

/ With a great effort, the rug is moved to one side of the room, revealing the dusty cover of a closed trap door.
/ >open the trap door
/ The door reluctantly opens to reveal a rickety staircase descending into darkness.

You can play a lot of Infocom games there, & save your progression.

I'm taking a lot of notes. Playing in a dark place only lightened by some diode lights. The cat sleeps in a cardboard box nearby with all 4 irons in the air. What a scene! :0)

Zarf Updates: The Visible Zorker . “The left pane is regular old Parchment, the Z-code interpreter, playing Zork 1. You type commands; the game responds. Just regular old Parchment? Not quite! This is Parchment exposed. The upper right pane shows the stack trace for the current turn. That’s all the ZIL functions called, and all the text printed, when executing the most recent command. And the […]
