#Trump argued in his post that #states were “merely an agent’ for the #FederalGovernment in counting & tabulating the votes.” [he is so unbelievably ignorant]

“They must do what the Federal Government, as represented by the President of the United States, tells them,” Trump said. [whatever happened to the #StatesRights party?]

#Trump also wrote that he wanted to get rid of voting machines, which he described as inaccurate & expensive [wrong. Far more accurate than hand counting]. He claimed, incorrectly, that the US was “the only Country in the World that uses Mail-In Voting.”
His post did not elaborate on what the #ExecutiveOrder would say. It was also not immediately clear whether the Trump admin could stop the use of mail-in voting, which is largely entrusted to individual states.

#Trump has maintained his opposition even after #Republicans in the 2024 #election made significant gains in mail voting when the party encouraged its supporters to make use of the practice.

On Truth Social on Monday, Trump posted: “THE MAIL-IN BALLOT HOAX, USING VOTING MACHINES THAT ARE A COMPLETE AND TOTAL DISASTER, MUST END, NOW!!!”

[IOW if people #vote, he & his candidates lose]

IF they qualify [they won’t, not now, in #Trump’s America], young adults can sign up for #Medicaid, the #federal & #state program for #LowIncome Americans, in most but far from all states.

But most buy cheap subpar #HealthInsurance that leaves them w/insurmountable #MedicalDebt following a #medical crisis. Others choose plans w/EXTREMELY limited networks, losing #access to their longtime #doctors & #medicines.

A federal appeals court on Tuesday allowed teams affiliated with #DOGE to gain #access to potentially sensitive #data on millions of Americans, overruling a lower court that had blocked that access in Feb.

By a 2-1 vote, a 3-judge panel of the US Court of Appeals for the #FourthCircuit granted the access to data stored at the #Treasury Dept, the #Education Dept & the Office of Personnel Management [#OPM], citing the June #SocialSecurity #SCOTUS decision.

BTW, an interesting POV I learned from Tendayi Bloom, a scholar and editor of the book below (disclosure: of which I am a contributor), is that while #homelessness itself is usually not illegal, the practise of making #natural #human #necessities such as sleeping and excreting waste illegal in public spaces has the same effect as #criminalising being #unhoused.

I am linking the book because there are so many vectors to being treated as non-#citizens that I think it are important to be aware of, even if one is *technically* a citizen, claiming such rights may depend on a number of other systems such as #authenticated #identification to "enjoy" those rights.

Lots of complexity that absolutely could be fixed if policymakers chose to do so.

A nonprofit group called Securing American Greatness, which is affiliated with #MAGA Inc. but is not required to disclose its #donors, can accept cash from interests willing to pay for #access to #Trump without the controversy that can come with having that known.

Even the White House Historical Association has become a vehicle for lobbyists & favor seekers.

Since Trump’s election last fall, fund-raisers & #lobbyists have been steering #corporations & #donors to a buffet of options for unlimited giving, some of which are less overtly political or allow anonymous donations, that can bring #access to #Trump.

Trump’s inaugural cmte raised a record-shattering $239M, including about $18M from #crypto interests & $1M each from #tech giants like #Meta & #Amazon that had drawn his ire in the past & were looking to smooth things over….
