Once again, #AdBlocking is #InfoSec. Avoiding shady Web sites is infosec, too, because these sites struggle to get legitimate companies to advertise with them.

PC World: Despite warnings, you can keep using uBlock Origin on Chrome… for now. “Users of uBlock Origin, one of the most popular adblockers for Chrome, have started receiving warnings upon opening Chrome that the extension is no longer supported, with a prompt to remove it. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean the extension is now unusable.”
PC World: uBlock Origin is dead, but these 4 ad blockers still work with Chrome. “But if you want to stick with Chrome (or you’re using a Chromebook and you don’t really have a choice), here are four alternatives that have already been upgraded to the new standard. They’re losing some capabilities due to Google’s more restrictive implementation, but they should still block the […]

Upgraded Pi-hole to the new version 6 this morning. Ran into a few issues. I had to reconfigure the upstream DNS servers. Apparently, those settings were lost during the upgrade. Easily done in the web interface.
Except, it also did not offer to disable lighttpd, so you may need to run 'sudo systemctl stop lighttpd' and/or 'sudo apt remove lighttpd' after the update to get the web interface working again.

I get the impression that if ad companies thought they could get away with forcing people to watch 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 (2⁶⁴) ads in a single video/movie/episode/song/article, they absolutely would if it meant they can make more money in profits. Capitalism doesn't care how you make more money, just that you do, no matter the cost.
