POSIWID: the purpose of a system is what it does.

Lowering interest rates = more employment and higher wages! But then increased demand wipes out those gains. The poorest suffer the most as everything becomes more expensive and their wage growth rarely if ever keeps up with the increase in costs.

Then raising interest rates = deliberate unemployment, deliberate reduction in quality of life, and, again, the poorest suffer the most.

Whatever we do, the poorest suffer.

Whatever anyone says, the output of capitalism is cruelty for the majority. Therefore, capitalism is designed for cruelty. POSIWID.

Can we do better? Not if capital keeps making the decisions!

Just read the text Give Up Activism as a zine, it's from 1999 but still really worth a read and a think. it's a critique on the role, self-conception and clique building of activists and how some pitfalls can lead to us hampering our impact we want to have.

Not everything is going to apply or be relevant, but to me the takeaway is to keep striving for a life and a world where "making the world better" isn't like a job some experts do and can pick up or put down as it suits us, but is just a natural part of everyday life for as many everyday people as possible.

Capitalism promises freedom but traps us in a cycle of “work-spend-repeat.” We’re sold endless stuff we don’t need, while workers get exploited for profit and the planet burns.

Consumerism turns us into branded zombies, chasing status through gadgets, fast fashion, and disposable crap.

Meanwhile, billionaires hoard wealth, politicians bow to corporations, and communities fracture.

This isn’t “progress”, it’s a rigged game.
