This grackle really reminds me of a bird from some animated show or movie, but I can't quite place it.

A medium-sized bird, silhouetted against the sky, perches on a telephone line. The bird appears all-black due to the light at its back, but its near eye is visible.

These White-throated Sparrows will be heading north in a few weeks. We'll miss you when you're gone.
Just love these little ones, great look, and some beautiful calls.

Bird is in the grass with a few small sticks lying around. Brown and black wing and back feathers with a muted brown underside and gray chest and cheeks. Solid white patch on the throat, black and white stripes on the head with bright yellow spots just in front of the eyes.

There are Sheep with an increasing amount of lamb again near the house. Yesterday a lamb was born right before my eyes.
The lambs attract a lot of visitors, especially families with children. But also Red Kite, Ravens, a fox and... to my great surprise Yellow Wagtail! Four of them
I once recorded one flying over, but until now never saw them in my surrounding.

O! And the Lesser Whitethroat has arrived! Still waiting to see my first common Whitethroat.

Seems like there may be a pair of nesting Fish Crows in the neighborhood. This bird has been hanging around recently and is very "talkative."

TFW you're a bronzed grackle who's having an extremely normal one, and you want everyone to know it.

A slightly-larger-than-robin-sized bird perches on a wooden fence, its iridescent blue-and-green head pointed skyward. Its back and wings are iridescent bronze, shading into darker tones toward its belly, and its visible eye is a bright yellow.

Its overall posture gives the impression of a teenager who’s definitely very sober and not high at all, Mom, just very normal today, thanks for asking.

Bonus small friends: a gold finch and a house finch who can't believe what you've just told them.

A small yellow bird perches on the top of the twisted-off wire at the top of a chain-link fence. It has patches of yellow-brown and white-yellow feathers because it’s molting, and it was black wings with white trim. It is facing the camera head-on, and its beak is open as though in surprise. (Though in actuality the photo caught it singing.)

A small brown/grey bird with a reddish head and chest perches on a small branch and stares down at the viewer. Its head is cocked and it is facing the camera beak-first. Its eyes, each on a different side of its head, give it an expression of mild shock, as if it’s about to reply, "Janet said WHAT?"

Today's small friend: the northern mockingbird who lives across the street and who has become a regular visitor to the finch feeder over the last few weeks. Here's hoping they stay a regular indefinitely! :3

How many House Sparrows can you get on a sock feeder........ there's always room for one more

Today's small friend: an American robin, shot unintentionally close-up.

A blackbird-sized bird perches on the top bar of a chainlink fence. It has a grey back and wings, an orange breast and belly, and a dark grey head with a mostly straight yellow beak with a slight curve at the end. The feathers immediately around its eye are a lighter grey, almost white. It appears to be eyeing the camera warily, but without much concern.

The camera has focused in tightly enough that the robin’s tail is cut off by the left frame of the image.

Today's small "friend": a female house sparrow, also known in this part of the US as an "English" sparrow.

I wish I could exclude this species, along with pigeons, from my yard entirely, but no such luck.

American Goldfinch coming into its colors.

Not a great photo, because this mocker was hyper-aware of me and the camera, so I had to mostly hide behind the window jam, and because it was in constant motion and only stayed on the feeder for a few seconds at a time, but honestly I'm pleased that I managed to document this unusual behavior at all.

A mid-sized grey bird perches on a red finch feeder, its small talons clinging to the wire mesh and its head moved forward to snap at the contents of the feeder.

The head and wings of the bird are blurred due to it flapping as the picture was taken, but you can just make out the dark eyeline and white wing-bar of a northern mockingbird.

The left half of the image has a blurry white overlay due to the camera catching part of the window jam.

A small but EXTREMELY RED bird with a black mask, a red bill, and a red-feathered crest faced the camera, perched on a chain-link fence. It is a northern cardinal, and boy is it red.

A similar picture to the previous one, except the blue jay is standing opposite the starling with one foot partly lifted, and its head is cocked almost entirely to one side and is blurred with motion. Its beak is still wide open in recrimination, however.

This may look like a cheerful conversation, but the blue jay's beak was actually hanging open in disgust and disbelief that this spangly interloper thought it could freely take from what is obviously The Blue Jay Feeder.

(The weird yellow lighting effect is a lamp inside my house reflecting off the window.)
