The Spotted Cucumber Beetle (Diabrotica undecimpunctata) can be a major agricultural pest. Its larvae, called corn rootworms, primarily feed on roots, while adults chew leaves, flowers, and fruit, damaging cucumbers, squash, melons, and other crops.

Another fabulous bumblebee scarab beetle, again inside a poppy flower in our back garden. I think this might be another Pygopleurus species, P veridisuturatus, but I’m going entirely on the colours in iNaturalist photos without knowing what I could be mixing it up with, so that may be ENTIRELY wrong. #beetles #insects #MacroPhotography

As I have said before, seven spot ladybirds (Coccinella septempunctata) seem to be holding up quite well, even where harlequins are abundant.
