@LillyHerself "#starlings are also disappearing... British populations have more than halved in the past 60 years, while Danish numbers have dwindled by 60%. Søren Solkær, [photographer] says, “In the past 2/3 years, I’ve had a very hard time locating very large flocks.” ... Within the same time frame, Europe and North America have lost 550 million and 2.9 billion #birds, respectively, due to habitat loss and other human-driven causes."

Another beautiful thing being destroyed by our lifestyles.

Short video panning over the #landscape in #Sumapaz #NationalPark, #Colombia. This is around 3,700 m above sea level in one of the largest remaining areas of the #Páramo ecosystem. The swamp in the middle of the scanned area contained lesser #yellowlegs, Andean #teal and American #coot. The surrounding areas held Boyaca #antpitta, Apolinar's #wren, green-throated #helmetcrest, many-striped #canastero and Brazilian #GuineaPigs.

I spent the weekend visiting #NationalParks outside #Bogotá, #Colombia, mainly for #birds. There was plenty of rain, and the light wasn't great, but it was wonderful to explore new ecosystems (Páramo and Bosque Alto-Andino) and see some distinctive species.
