I have had the pleasure of meeting Hoshina Seki a couple of times while visiting the New York Buddhist Church in Manhattan and the American Buddhist Study Center located therein (of which Hoshina is president).

Here is an article written last year where Hoshina describes her path as a trans woman with the backdrops of life in America as a Buddhist woman and as a Japanese American.

I find it very pertinent today, especially as she describes attacks against Japanese immigrants and US citizens of Japanese descent by the US govt that mirror the ICE raids that we're seeing today.
