#Capitalism has developed many ways to exploit and extract rent from ordinary people who are trying to scratch a living on the Web. #Substack, #Etsy, #OnlyFans and many others seek to monopolise spaces and to parasitise.

It's always seemed to me that the obvious response to this was to set up a co-operatively owned Web payments system, and I've been surprised that none has emerged.

When #trump says other countries are treating us unfairly, he’s saying corporations find is less expensive to move manufacturing offshore, and Americans prefer to buy the cheaper products from elsewhere. This is #capitalism’s “race to the bottom”, so trump is saying: he doesn’t support capitalism.

The idea that the tariffs could be a degrowth win by accident is misguided, I think. Trump’s goal obviously isn’t to slow US or global capitalism. And if the tariffs do either of those for very long, Trump will be gone soon so that growth can resume.
