Around 100 demonstrators gathered on Low Steps Thursday afternoon for a protest organized by Columbia Palestine Solidarity Coalition and Student Workers of Columbia-United Auto Workers.
Protesters condemned Barnard’s decision to call the New York Police Department to campus during a Wednesday sit-in and called on the college to reverse student expulsions.
The protest follows a sit-in in the Milstein Center on Wednesday, when NYPD officers entered Barnard’s campus following a reported bomb threat in the building and arrested nine individuals for charges including trespass and disorderly conduct.
NYPD officers set up metal barricades in front of Barnard’s main gates, where demonstrators stood and chanted after walking to the Barnard entrance from Columbia’s campus.
