Philo Sophies<p>“<a href="https://synapse.cafe/tags/Constructivism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Constructivism</span></a> vs <a href="https://synapse.cafe/tags/Realism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Realism</span></a> - Would you rather have the red pill or the blue pill?”</p><p>“This is your last chance. There's no turning back after this. Take the blue pill: the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. Take the red pill: you stay here in Wonderland and I'll show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.” (Film quote from “Morpheus” from “Matrix 1”)</p><p>Abstract</p><p>The following essay has actually been planned for some time and comes from the series “How much <a href="https://synapse.cafe/tags/construction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>construction</span></a> does <a href="https://synapse.cafe/tags/reality" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>reality</span></a> contain?”, which I had already introduced with the older text “Realists vs. nominalists - or the old dualism ‘thinking vs. language’. </p><p>In the following, I would like to fulfill my promise and try to close the still missing, fundamental gap in the relationship between “constructivism vs. realism” in relation to our “<a href="https://synapse.cafe/tags/consciousness" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>consciousness</span></a>”.</p><p>But before I can offer you the “blue or red pill” to “expand your consciousness” from the movie “<a href="https://synapse.cafe/tags/Matrix" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Matrix</span></a>”, I first need a few basic “medicines”. What the whole thing has to do with the movie “Matrix” will hopefully become clear below. </p><p>But first, as from another thematically similar movie “<a href="https://synapse.cafe/tags/Alice" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Alice</span></a> in Wonderland”, you would first have to follow me down the aforementioned “rabbit hole” so that the separation between “constructivism vs. realism” becomes more visible. </p><p>So let me first reveal the plan of our upcoming journey into “Wonderland”: “Follow the white rabbit!” (movie quote from “Neo” from “Matrix 1”)</p><p>We start with the drug “<a href="https://synapse.cafe/tags/language" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>language</span></a>”, which first of all requires a clear definition of what “consciousness” is in the first place. Without this linguistic clarification of the terms, I will only be writing past you and we will not be able to create any common “<a href="https://synapse.cafe/tags/sense" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>sense</span></a> fields” (Markus Gabriel). </p><p>The next medicine needed is, of course, “thinking”. Here, however, it is not the general, but in particular the “<a href="https://synapse.cafe/tags/philosophy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>philosophy</span></a> of mind” that is meant. The fact that “<a href="https://synapse.cafe/tags/mind" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>mind</span></a>” and “<a href="https://synapse.cafe/tags/thinking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>thinking</span></a>” do not necessarily have to be the same thing should be emphasized here once again. </p><p>Finally, the drug “<a href="https://synapse.cafe/tags/knowledge" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>knowledge</span></a>” is to be used, so of course we need support from <a href="https://synapse.cafe/tags/science" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>science</span></a>. In order to compare the “constructed rabbit hole” a little with “<a href="https://synapse.cafe/tags/reality" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>reality</span></a>”, empirical data from cognitive <a href="https://synapse.cafe/tags/neuroscience" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>neuroscience</span></a> may be quite helpful.</p><p>More at: <a href="https://philosophies.de/index.php/2025/01/04/konstruktivismus-vs-realismus/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">philosophies.de/index.php/2025</span><span class="invisible">/01/04/konstruktivismus-vs-realismus/</span></a></p>
