However, this crochet gift is very much loved!

Acrylic yarn throughout, some of it sparkly. No real pattern, though the cushion centre is loosely inspired by a squared spiral pattern I used ~10 years ago. The centre of the blanket is Tunisian crochet, worked in the round by using increases and decreases. The edgings are dc/sc (UK/US). The pips of the blanket are sewn-on appliques, and the cushion pips are embroidered.

A large circular blanket and small square cushion pegged onto a washing line under a brilliant blue sky. Both crocheted items are patterned to look like watermelon slices, crocheted with red yarn using Tunisian crochet techniques for the central sections, with a simple crochet edging of white yarn and two shades of green yarn. The blanket has black applique pips and the cushion has black embroidered pips.

Talking about beautiful hand-dyed yarn... Throwback to that time where I thought it was a good idea to crochet a mosaic blanket with sockweight mini-skeins... :D Well, it did turn out beautiful! That was also the time I learned I have a luxury cat, because Lewis will go bonkers over Merino Wool. (see picture three...) Yes, it's his blanket now...

Let's do #wipwednesday . Two years ago Sarah from Wolltraum (My Melodyy Yarns) did a crazy limited edition called "Colors of the Wind" (see second picture). It's a massive 1kg yarncake (4ply, I'd say equivalent to sport weight), 3800m of yarn with ALL THE COLORS! It needs to become a blanket, that was for sure. I had to take a break from it but recently dug it out again and I'm chugging away, stitch by stitch. Very happy that I finally reached the green and am getting to the brighter colors now.
Pattern is Hive Mind Blanket by Melanie Payne, the technique is inset mosaic crochet.

My lap blanket made out of Tunisian crochet stitch pattern samples is nearly done.

I only have the tiresome, and boring, work of weaving in ends left, and attempt some kind of blocking of the blanket.

It's wonky and I love it. All squares are the same number of stitches and rows, but the different patterns build height/width differently.

A blanket made up of 48 different Tunisian stitch patterns squares. The colors are hot pink, curry, dark beige, light beige and white. There is a border all around in dark beige, the border sports a pattern not present in the blanket itself. The colors are somewhat randomly placed.
